The new visitor facility was designed in partnership with the local community and Jacobite Cruises’ stakeholders.
The design exploits the natural biodivsersity of the centre’s surroundings and blends with the woodland and burn. The focus is on natural light, with a sail roof designed to maximise sunlight in all areas of the facility. People sitting in the cafe will have views of the woodland above as well as the loch in front. There will also be many opportunities to walk in the nearby woodland.
Jacobite Cruises holds a Green Tourism Silver Award and intends to continue investing in sustainability. As well as natural light the centre and domestic water will be heated by a water to air heat pump.
Glasgow-based Cameron Webster Architects was selected to design the project, following a design competition and consultation to seek local opinion
