Jacobite Discovery is a £2.5 million project by Inverness-based Jacobite Cruises to transform the Loch Ness visitor experience.

The sustainable development, which received planning permission from The Highland Council on 21st March 2011, will include a harbour, reception, car and coach parking and visitor facilities on land at Brackla, on the western shores of Loch Ness.

The project will ensure Jacobite’s customers and visitors can enjoy a high quality facility and service, whether embarking on a cruise or stopping to enjoy the view.

Jacobite Cruises is currently working through the planning conditions set by The Highland Council and hopes to start work on the development early 2012, with an estimated opening of Easter 2013.

Jacobite is committed to significant infrastructure investment as part of the development of the Discovery project. This will include:

  • Providing a right hand turning lane on the A82 for traffic approaching from Inverness
  • Improving sight lines on both approaches
  • Constructing a waste water treatment plant to the highest environmental standards
  • Providing safe pedestrian access to adjoining properties
